Re: some combat questions
D) You can't, because the ambush / Surprise situation is not about being heard, it's about hiding behind the corner, it's about spotting you. PER vs. DEX still applies (DEX is also your default for hiding). Sidenote: Walking is not a requirement for SW, SW can be used to stand still unheard (for ex...

Re: astral sight (windling racial) and multiple disciplines
Why would you loose the windlings natural sastral sensitive sight. I cant see any reason the character should not be allowed to have both astral sight talent and astral sensitive sight racial ability. They work in significantly different ways the character could choose which to activate according to...

Re: some combat questions
3) can a character "change his action" to delay it until the next round? (oh, things going south fast, better act first next turn instead so i can run away) While you can it isn’t usually a good idea to wait when you could run now. The exception is if your waiting for the rest of your tea...

Re: horror stalker discipline question
On the subject of the horrors ability to interfere. Horror mark alone dose very little. It interferes with creativity (you can’t pass artisan skill tests) and provides a conduit threw which many horror powers can be used if the horror is within 100 miles. Alone it does not give the horror knowledge ...

Re: Severing threads
It means that you gain power at the expense of having some of your "weak points" spread out to other characters. If it was just a weak point you could trust it to a companion to gain some power (interestingly more power than you could gain in ed2 as there where lower thread rank limits fo...

Re: Severing threads
You are correct a player cannot control the development of his own pattern items, but he can influence it. I certainly don’t allow people to just start with them (other than a grimwar which is always a minor pattern item in ed2) You can encourage an item to become a pattern item by making it a recur...

Re: Severing threads
You still have the problem that ED3 (and apparently ED1) encourage a player to prevent the formation of these interesting story items. As a GM I want them to be in the game, not just as something that could exist but adding interest to the PCs and creating plot lines that actually get used in the g...

Re: Astral Sight.
Inventory doesn’t reveal any magical property’s the item may have, just what is there. If a powerful magic long sword is in an armoury with 19 non magical long swords the inventory will say “20 long swords” This spell is primarily useful for seeing if you missed something small. Say the single air c...

Re: Severing threads
Yes, but remember, you can't weave a thread to your own pattern item because it's pattern is your pattern. Yeh this is one of my most disliked changes in from ED2 to ED3. 2 reasons Pattern items are an interesting bit of personal story, an item that matters to you in a very special way. Be it a swo...
