Re: Campaign and adventure tiers

I could see that playing out... "What? You don't think trolls are people just like everyone else? They have to be specified because they're different somehow? That's racist." :D

Though if you really want to rock their world, you could make Cadaver Obsidimen.

Re: Why some mysteries are left unanswered?

If the whole of the story is already told, then what story is there to play through? Leaving several big and interesting holes open gives you lots of hooks to catch hold of and base your campaign, your story, on. Of course, you can completely ignore the metaplot and just do your own thing, but not e...

Re: Campaign and adventure tiers

Don't forget that not all encounters have to be combat. Earthdawn especially has rules that facilitate running social encounters. Legend Points should also be awarded for overcoming social obstacles and for good role-play. It's also often a good way to throw a wrench in when the characters are getti...

Re: How do you feel about characters with multiple disciplin

I don't have a problem with multi-Disciplining as long as it is developed with the character through story, not just looking for nifty new tricks. For example, I have been considering multi-Disciplining my Wizard for a bit now, but it is because he has developed into what I would probably best descr...

Re: We're going to need a bigger Step table

I never could get the hang of the d12. They just never seem to want to work well for me. The d6 loves me, most everything else is at least on friendly terms with me, but those d12's just have something in their plastic that hates me. Personally, I always preferred the d20's early in the step table, ...

Re: Astral Sight vs Life Sight

I always allowed Astral Sight (and all Talents of the like) to see through any barrier that was not living. So wooden walls of a cabin, sure. Still planted and growing trees, no. Wooden walls of a cabin with vines growing on it, no, that's a living barrier. I would also generally consider stone that...

Re: Fourth Edition Player's Guide Errata and FAQ

I'm not so sure on the difficulty for banishing from a thematic standpoint. Summoned spirits are already kind of being forced to intrude on our world when they are summoned. Summoning requires a lot of energy and effort because it is pushing against the natural flow. Banishing is just setting the fl...

Re: shaman spell learning procedures

If I recall correctly, they had a knack to create Fetish objects aside from the ones they would have access to normally from their Discipline. For all intents and purposes, it worked exactly the same as the Create Matrix Object knack, except it was a Fetish instead. So, assuming my memory is correct...

Re: Familiars

I hear they are going to be omitted from the 4th edition? This is not correct. Mechanics for familiars are not detailed in the Player's Guide, but this does not mean they have been removed from the edition. The Player's Guide was already significantly over the initially planned page count, which me...
