In EPG (ed3) it lists “Obsidimen can only wear other types of living armour” on page 22

I can’t see being a non adept as an advantage for an assassin, never seen an ability to detect if somebody is an adept, this doesn’t mean somebody who is not an adept cannot gain other advantages. it could mean that if you disable one of its claws (eg the wither limb spell) it is still dangerus, but it cant atack efectivly with the hind claws.

Just checked, your right in second ed as well. Looks like the party PCs that got skin shifted would have taken 4 more points of damage each, one wound less each and everything else would have played out exactly the same (the worm scull never failed a test and got armour defeating hits on all attacks...

yeh but why would anybody attack it. it would be unusual to keep weapons in there so unless your attackers goal is to deny you a special object, or take it themselves (if they have teh astral acess to retreve it) atacking your astral pocket is a loosing stratergy because it slows victory in a fight ...

You can stack bloodcharms in the manner presented. There is the optional rule for depatterning to keep things in check or you can simply limit their availability if you have a player that goes too nuts with it.
