The black mantis are based upon the inshalata (giant preying mantis). But some Horror thought it would be funny to improve upon what nature had already created.
Alter inshalata. Sic black mantis' upon a kaer of windlings. Hilarity ensues.

Re: Artificer traps
Ya, Grimtooth's Traps are the way to go. But don't go for the kill.
Go for the pain.

Re: Effects of NOT Wearing Armor?
We use the "Bearing armor by strength" optional rule. The really strong guys will thus bulk up on the heavier armors, and be able to take more punishment as a result. The weaker characters (generally casters and social guys) thus tend to wear the lighter stuff. Also, as an aside, if the Wa...

Re: Shield charge -Over powered?
Here's something else to consider. When using a shield to execute a Shield Charge, you lose your defensive bonuses to every other opponent, as stated earlier. This is not only the armor bonus, but the deflection bonus from the shield. Meaning armor defeating hits are much more likely. Granting a bon...

Re: The Afterlife
Hell hound is a critter that came from Shadowrun. So that's where the name came from. As to afterlife, they do talk about it a bit in the GM's books. They also mention it in the different Legends books and short essays on the subject. Basically, the afterlife can be many different things, and they s...

Re: ED3 Wind Catcher Talent
In six seconds, a body falls 576 feet. Six seconds is a long time, and IMO plenty of time for someone trained in Wind Catcher to activate the talent on the way down.

Re: Displace Image
As a first Circle illusion, it is extremely easy to sense or disbelieve. Basically, it will be good for one attack, or defense, and then it will be gone (for that character). That one attack might buy you enough time to do other things, though.

Re: Airship minimum crew.
Bare minimum to operate isn't based upon number of crew, but number of result levels that the crew gets on their skill/talent test to operate the ship. The number of result levels is based upon a percentage of the listed "crew size" for each vessel. Which basically boils down to 25% for ba...

Re: Shadowrun Dragons
I believe he is also referenced (and possibly named, not sure) in one of the final Dawn of the Artifacts books, wherein several items from the 4th world are collected. The neat thing is, I've identified them all, and they are all (with a single exception) magic items from Earthdawn. Pretty neat cros...
