Re: Lightbears & Horror Stalker

I always found the Horror Stalker discipline to be a way to keep the "vampire hunter" part of the "Cleric"-shtick around - as ED dropped the other parts for a related idea (Questors, which Mataxes is also giving a "more Discipline-like treatment"). This is interesting, ...

Re: [Ed4] Stealthy Stride talent

I'm more worried about re-rolling poor results. There's no reason not to. With "let it ride" the player must do something to change the circumstances before they can re-roll. Distract that guard by throwing something noisy over his shoulder, snuff the light sources, etc, etc. Once the pla...

Re: [Ed4] Stealthy Stride talent

Let the player know the result of their roll and hide opposing Perception tests ;D, it takes just as much experience to know if you (or some-one else) is doing something well, as it does to actually do that thing well. I also use the "let it ride" guideline: A roll result like that stands ...

Re: Earthdawn Quick-Start Preview

I haven't finished reading yet, but agree with the above. I like insta-killing the npc madmen idea, but have it immediately convert them to hostile Cadaver Men, or is that too much of a threat?

Re: Magicians Casting Buffs On Teammates `From Behind'

Just a note, as it had caused me a headache for a few weeks in the Airship re-design: A combat round in ED4 is 6 seconds, 10 per minute. Otherwise, I agree that these kind of house rules can get messy. I'd say if you really want to implement this, a soft-rule would be fine: In any non-combat (i.e. n...

Re: Earthdawn with the Dark Sun setting

I've been having lots of fun mashing up Greyhawk and Earthdawn. I've always loved the Darksun setting, but never got a chance to play it it much.

oD&D -> Earthdawn conversions are a REALLY GOOD IDEA (in my opinion).

Re: Vasgothia Proposal

I always thought that the core of the Vasgothia material was really good from the Theran Empire book, but it needed some re-working to really stand on it's own. Interesting! I'll have to check this out later this week.

Re: Weaving Threads to Pattern Items

It is a magical Talent, after all, not a skill. Not everyone can pick up any object and just _know_ details about it's story after a week of casual study (plus how many Threads can be attached, total Rank, _and_ it's magical effects as you learn each Rank). It's the realm of the Elementalist, Trouba...
