Yes its two sources, one from the Discipline ability and one from the talent as long as you are using a melee weapon.

Same thing with Warriors and Crushing Blow BTW on any close combat Damage Test.

The best way to think of it is that nonmagical and nonliving items do not have astral presence whereas magical and living ones do.

Living creatures all have substance in astral space. Since the earth is considered alive as well as living trees and plants, they have astral substance and cannot be seen/passed through. Yes to Step 7, again the Warrior does not know forging magic, so he is a little lost on trying to fix that last step unless he also knows Forge Weapon IMB.

The way I've always run it IMB is this: As long as the Horror can see your astral imprint, it can use magic to attack you with any mystic damage spells (WIl+X/Mystic). Physical spells (WIL+X/Physical) and attacks do not work because the Horror is in astral space and these attacks do not hurt the ast...

I always use the Session Legend Award Table for the amount of silver for quests per Circle as a guide. So Circle 1 is 100-300 LP for a session, so 100-300 silver per adept for quests is sensible.
