Re: Background for players

ED4GMG has a new fiction story that's pretty good as well as "How It Came To Pass", the History article of the game setting. Over the years, various fansites have summarized it and can still be found with a google search... The ED4GMG has the 1st ed 'How it Came to Pass' section? That wou...

Re: 4th Edition Jackalmen

I'm not familiar with the Grab and Bite move where is that listed? If it involves grappling the opponent first before being able to bite then I won't be using it personally. Wolves and dogs are quite capable of delivering powerful bites without needing to worry about grappling first. Grab and Bite:...

Re: 4th Edition Jackalmen

Jackalmen don't bite with their tails (there's a typo in the Maneuver you've listed). I don't have the Theran Empire book on me, so is there a reason you gave them a Bite version of Tail Attack instead of Grab and Bite?

Re: The Threadweaving tax

Separate but related thought: with the use of extra successes for a variety of things in ED4 and the loss of distinction on Good/etc results, I think the ED4 Player's Companion is going to need a new system to indicate when extra successes are required strictly to power the Knack. Doing it each tim...

Re: Magicians Casting Buffs On Teammates `From Behind'

As for consistent penalties outside of combat due to the chain casting, I personally don't think it's necessary, but it could be an interesting mechanic. I wouldn't over-mechanize it, though: maybe GM rolls a 1d6 (again, assuming casting every ~5 minutes), and on a 1, the character is distract for ...

Re: The Threadweaving tax

A houserule I sometimes used in previous editions, converted to ED4, would look like this:

A Magician may spend 2 Successes on a Thread Weaving Test to gain a Standard Action, usable only to Cast the Spell they were tying Threads for.

Re: The Threadweaving tax

Isn't part of the flexibility the fact that tying extra Threads is optional?

Re: Destroying a pattern item

Is there any consequences for destroying a pattern item? One of my player keeps destroying all his pattern item to make sure it would never be used against him. Can't say there's no wisdom in that. In fact, since the death of King Varulus, I wonder why it has not been a common practice among the mo...

Re: Annoying Plant Feast

First, I think a solid question a GM needs to answer is "how prevalent are Adepts in my ED universe?" It's a very complicated question, but it goes to the heart of your issue with the spell. Here's a math-heavy potential solution to this question. I don't have the source handy, but there'...
