Re: Most Extensive and Crazy Houserules
1: Strain Pool: Characters get a pool of points equal to Toughness that they can spend as strain. It refreshes after every encounter. I put this in place because my players were very risk averse and often refused to use any talents that required strain. Toughness value or Step? It went off the Attr...

Most Extensive and Crazy Houserules
So, in the spirit of turning Earthdawn on its ear with 4e, I thought it might be cool to hear what sort of crazy house rules people have been using over the years. I've got a few doozies that will probably make people cry out in indignation. Most of them result in a major power shift towards the pla...

Re: Giving Ground
As with most of the combat options (aside from the Aggressive/Defensive stances), my group remarked at how cool it was and then proceeded to never use it in play.
If you're addressing combat issues, though, any attempts to streamline the knockdown rules would be greatly appreciated!

Re: ED4 Preview #3
Personally, I've never thought that multi-disciplining should even be allowed. It doesn't make any sense from a thematic standpoint given the way your discipline totally shapes your world view. Nine times out of ten, it seems like players want to do it just to pick up those few additional talents. I...

Re: ED4 Preview #3
Old editions put a hard cap on your talent rank based on circle, but I think third edition did away with that. Actually, this was never the case, but the Fibonacci series in the LP cost table is pretty effective at (generally) keeping talent ranks in line with circle. Whoops. Classic example of mis...

Re: Earthdawn: Fourth Edition coming in 2014
Don't take it personal then. I wasn't calling anyone out or attacking anyone in particular and was merely going off the plethora of posts here and rpg.net directly complaining about the math, so yeah I will point out these butthurt people's statements about having to add or subtract. The math isn't...

Re: ED4 Preview #3
The comparison of the 6th and 4th Circle Warriors is instructive. It's not an isolated incident, either. There are a LOT of cases in Earthdawn where the apparent diversity/complexity of the game still winds up producing characters that are functionally similar. Glad to see that they're working to el...

Re: Earthdawn: Fourth Edition coming in 2014
Can we stop with the suggestions that anyone who criticizes some aspect of the rules system is "stupid," "lazy," or "can't do math?" Most of the people here are longtime players who understand the system. I can't speak for everyone else, but when I propose some kind of ...

Re: ED4 Preview #3
Couldn't be happier with this change. I've always hated how the game essentially "forces" you to dump points into certain talents that are far more useful than others. Yes, you can obviously choose to not put points in Durability, but anybody that's played Earthdawn knows that this is real...

Re: More Setting Please.
I'd actually like to see all of the diverse items/spells/Horrors/locations from all of the 1st edition adventures compiled into a single volume. A lot of really interesting stuff popped up in those books, but it sucks having to sift through all of them trying to find them.
