Re: Developer's Blog 7/25/2014

Since Earthdawn has been around far longer than Game of Thrones, I would expect something more along the lines of "Why did the set decorator for Game of Thrones copy Earthdawn?" :P

Re: GM's Guide -- Anything you would like to see?

I'm with Kosmit on that, and some structure on how these things are actually made. :) That would be lovely.

Re: GM's Guide -- Anything you would like to see?

Horrors are particularly tricky. I find that if I do throw a horror into a campaign, I really need to break it down and follow its set of logical patterns. One of the scariest freaking horrors to me is Yrsthgrathe. He is not particularly tough to kill in a fight compared to others of his caliber. Ho...

Addressing the idea of strain.

I'm glad to have it, if I need it. I'd rather have those options, then not.

Re: GM's Guide -- Anything you would like to see?

Given the situation you propose, I'd likely have countered it before it became a problem. Let me pick it apart, and then offer you an similar but alternate idea. 1. Travelling through a high risk unforgiving area , and a group being unprepared for a single surprise attack from a Skeorx? In a combat ...

Re: GM's Guide -- Anything you would like to see?

I'd also like to point out, that big dumb monsters and horrors are not the same thing. Completely different tactics to engage and destroy. Usually, when really nasty and powerful horrors are involved, the bets are off - as are the kid gloves.

Re: GM's Guide -- Anything you would like to see?

In terms of one on one combat (namegiver v monster of equal circles) where there its all in open ground, there is always the chance that the single namegiver will fail. That's just part of how the numbers fall, but again you've completely taken the guile out of the entire situation. Is the monster i...

Re: GM's Guide -- Anything you would like to see?

Tell that to the Obsidiman in full living crystal plate armour, and greatsword forged enough to make the devil grin. Tell him he's not a Tank. Aggro skills? This is not an MMO. There is a fundamental disconnect between warrior types in say World of Warcraft, than in Earthdawn. Apple and Oranges ther...

Re: black market

My black market in Earthdawn is more like a glorified flea market. Anything that requires or has threads attached to things are far out of the hands of your typical fences. That being said, examples like the one mentioned are possibilities, but certainly not the norm.

Re: Windlings and cloaks

Depending on how realistic your game physics are however, it could get quite cumbersome in some aspects.

To throw some context on the table, there is a reason why motorcyclists find it unsafe to wear long flowing clothing while operating their bikes.
