Re: Swordmaster Preview!

It's okay, I was just checking! You know, on the subject of the preview, I'm kind of sad that the effect of Manoeuvre is being changed. Giving up your standard action for a solid bonus on your next turn always seemed like a fair trade to me, and the combination of Manoeuvre, Anticipate Blow, and Ag...

Re: Questions and answers...

I like Mystic Defense - it's more consistent, with Mystic Armor; more applicable, since not all things that target it are spells; and easier for abbreviating, since we now have PD, MD, and SD, instead of PD, SpD, and SoD. When I first read that change, I thought, "Oh, yeah. Why didn't we all d...

Spell list changes?

I know there are some new spells coming, and likely some being removed, but I think a few spells are in the wrong list. It's a small thing, but I was wondering if there were any plans to juggle some of the spells. The karma spells (improve & dampen) didn't fit for illusionists for me. Seems more...

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard

The current description in the rules is that some Disciplines get "free talents" where Talent Rank = Circle, and these free talents do not count for the purposes of Circle advancement, but otherwise work the same as any other talent. I guess I'm more anal about the fluff than most people,...

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard

You guys seem lost in the theoreticals and have totally missed that this is a core mechanic in other disciplines: The proposed Matrix rules are to fit alongside the Support Discipline's getting a, frankly - totally awesome, upgrade to their half-magic. They now have a thematic Talent that ranks up ...

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard

) Why do matrices need to be talents and not talents? It seems such an odd hack to address the issue. If you're set on giving the two for free, why not simply remove them from the talent list all together, and just allow the mage to purchase matrices at the appropriate level (perhaps costing a bit ...

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard

So, a proposal... At First Circle, magicians get two standard matrices. These advance in rank along with Circle. At Fifth Circle, one of these standard matrices is upgraded to an enhanced matrix. Additional matrices are talent options, that have a rank and are purchased the same way as any other ta...

Re: Eleventh Hour Preview: Wizard

And that opens me up to this: SPELL MATRIX (Rank + Wil) Action: Sustained/Standard (see text) Karma: Yes Strain: None / 1 (see text) The Adept can weave and store Spell Matrices within their own astral Pattern. A Spell Matrix is an astral construct that allows Magicians to cast spells without inter...

Re: Fourth Edition Preview -- A whole lot of talents

I garner no enjoyment from games where PCs need to only fear death at boss encounters. Indeed. My players are constantly fearful of death, even in encounters in which they greatly outclass the opposition. Yet there is very little chance of them actually dying. So why do they fear what can't happen?...
