Re: Thief Half Magic
Not to mention "Is there a weak point when they change shifts?" "Is there a point during rounds where an entry is unguarded? (Is there a weakness in their perimeter?)" or other such things that others could notice, it's just the thief is better/faster at doing so.

Re: Additional Targets in Spellcasting
If your last bit there is talking about Lightning Bolt, you're skipping an important bit of the text there: Additional success levels on secondary targets will not cause additional bolts. I was assuming that meant "you hit primary target, chain to secondary target, and then it ends". If y...

Re: Additional Targets in Spellcasting
Going back to the original question, I would say +1 target means a different target. If your level of successes allows more targets than you want to use, you don't NEED to assign the extra lightning bolts to a target, but you can't have one target hit by more than one bolt per casting unless the sp...

Re: Extra Successes allowing extra Targets
But that just brings us back to the origional question. If you target a common iguana (MD 6), then if you happen to hit that lizard with a 16, you have generated two extra successes, which could be used to hit two Espagra (MD 15). Where if you just target an Espagra, you need a 20 to generate the e...

Re: [Ed4] Fireball
The spell is, as is, designed to hit everyone/thing in the area, friend or foe. By weaving extra threads, you can omit a friend from the "valid target" category. This lets you center a fireball on a friend being Harried and blow the bejeezus out of his attackers while leaving him unscathed.

Just remember: it works both ways. Any trick the PCs can use the NPCs can use right back.

Re: [Ed4] Called Shot
Because you are automatically considered to be trying to hit a weak spot to the best of your ability. You are always trying to defeat armor, and your extra Successes determine how well you do. This brings an interesting point: what if you aren't? What if you are "blind firing" like so man...
