Perhaps I've missed something, but I'm a bit stumped on something and it's bothered me for a bit. Could be I'm just over-thinking it or just have missed it, or perhaps it's in novels I've not read. Why/how did the passions go mad? Just "The Scourge" with no explanation makes me just wonder...
