Re: Fourth Edition House Rules

Here is another house rule relating to blood charms and depatterning I have developed for my 4th Edition game. Blood Charms & Depatterning All blood charms listed in 1st, 3rd or 4th Edition will exist, but the availability or the secret of how to make some will be restricted to certain areas or ...

Re: Fourth Edition House Rules

Shields don't add Armor any longer, they add Defense. You would need to rethink your house rules in that context. Thanks for that. I have edited the wording of my ”Going Inside a shield” combat option to reflect that you subtract the shield’s physical or mystic defense bonus rating from your Initia...

Re: Fourth Edition House Rules

Missed one. Blood oaths must be sworn voluntarily, but if a character swears a blood oath while under the influence of self inflicted or willingly submitted to magical charms, spells, or drugs (including strong drink) he is considered to have done so voluntarily. A character not willingly under the ...

Re: Fourth Edition House Rules

Hi everyone, While I really like the most of core changes made in Earthdawn 4th Edition, such as the new free talent, talent options, and extra success options with most abilities and spells. I feel there are many areas of the rules that negatively suffer from the way these new rules have been inter...

Re: River boat sailor, own discipline or air sailor?

There was a T'skrang discipline of Boatman in previous editions.

Perhaps if you wait for the 4th Edition Companion it may be included as a racial specific discipline, or just use the information from the 3rd Edition Namegivers of Barsaive book.

Re: Windling flight while in combat (4th edition)

Yes, I am probably sorting this type of thing out backwards to most people. But I know my players, and rule interpretations need to be nailed down from the start and then applies consistently for everyone to be happy. I am quite familiar with how windling flight can affect a game. I GM'ed Earthdawn ...

Re: Windling flight while in combat (4th edition)

varrow, when a human warrior is engaged in melee with a dwarf swordmaster, do they stand still until it's their turn to swing their weapon?. Yes, they are standing still with regards to any form of tangible simple action (movement). There would be minor forms of activity such as standing, dodging, ...

Re: Windling flight while in combat (4th edition)
Am I reading correctly that you are applying this only to Windlings and not to any other flying creatures?
No. In my view this should to apply this to any flying creature from Windling to Great dragon. Unless the creature description shows some specific rule exemption in it. I proba...

Re: Windling flight while in combat (4th edition)

...yeah. Even if it isn't explicit, constantly applying the "splitting movement" penalty to a windling because of their flight is against the intent of those rules. The very nature of rules require that things be broken up into discrete steps and pieces, even if the narrative reality is a...

Re: Windling flight while in combat (4th edition)

Thanks for your replies; it has given me more points to consider. After considering these points and separate arguments from one of my vocal players I have concluded that my personal view is as follows. Feel free to disagree or ignore my wall of text, but as I wrote it out for my players I thought I...
