Acrobatic Defense

Strain: 1 Tier: Novice
The character performs flips, somersaults,
or similar acrobatic maneuvers, making them
harder to hit. They must be able to move and
have sufficient space to perform maneuvers in.
The character makes an Acrobatic Strike Test
against the highest Physical Defense of any
opponents in close combat range (2 yards) and
must then attack one of the opponents in close
combat. If both the Acrobatic Strike Test and
the Attack Test are successful, the character adds
their Acrobatic Strike Rank to their Physical
Defense against the opponents for the remainder
of the round. If the character is Knocked Down
or otherwise finds their movement restricted,
they lose this bonus. Acrobatic Defense cannot
be used in the same round as Anticipate Blow

OK. You have a group of attackers, with Physical Defenses of 8, 9, and 11. You make an Acrobatic Defense Test against an 11, as that's the highest Physical Defense in the group. You then make an Attack Test against any one of the three. (You're going to be at minuses to both Tests as, with three opponents, you're Harried, but that's not directly relevant.) If you succeed in both the Acrobatic Defense Test and the Attack Test, you get to add your Rank in Acrobatic Defense to your Physical Defense for all three of those opponents until the end of the current combat round. This Skill is heavily dependent on winning the initiative, obviously. If the second one to attack you knocks you down, you lose that defense bonus against the last one.
