Also, some Obsidimen are sedimentary, some are igneous, and some are metamorphic, so it would make perfect sense for the sedimentimen to have nails and not the ignewomen.

Well technically obsidimen have no gender (or maybe both at once), although an obsidiman may choose to specifically identify with one or the other
(cf. Denizens of Earthdawn / Namegivers' Compendium / Namegivers of Barsaive)

Annnnnd technically they are sedimentary most of the time.
