Dragon's Kiss [Thread Item]

Post by Slimcreeper » Sat Oct 24, 2020 8:37 pm

This is a beautifully crafted but archaic stone warhammer. When found, it is in the form of a sledge so large that only an Obsidiman or Troll can wield it. The large granite head is lashed to the handle with ramskin cords, and there are a number of feathers and totems attached to the butt of the handle. It appears to be simultaneously very old and in pristine condition. Without threads woven to it, it has the same statistics as a normal warhammer, but it is fragile. If a damage test is rolled with the Dragon’s Kiss and the dice roll up, the stone head shatters and the handle splinters. One hour later it reforms into perfect condition. The Dragon’s Kiss has been passed back and forth between the Cabamere Liferock and the Black Cave Troll Moot, both located in the Dragon Mountains.. The Black Cave Trolls are not Cave Trolls, and are hypersensitive to any insults playing on that name, intentional or otherwise. The trolls are not raiders. They make a comfortable life herding mountain goats, foraging and hunting, while the obsidimen tend to terraced gardens. They survived the Scourge without paying the Theran’s blood price, one of the few communities to do so. They agreed to an initial payment in elemental earth and orichalcum and an annual tithe of slaves. However, the Black Cave trolls lied about where their moot was located. The obsidimen dug a tunnel to access their liferock from the other side of the ridge. They built a reinforced stone shelter over it. Then they triggered a landslide to bury it. When the Therans came to collect their slaves, they were unable to locate the moot or the obsidimen. Later scouting expeditions attempting to collect fell beneath the ambushes of combined obsidimen and troll fighters. It was during this time that the first records of the Dragon’s Kiss appeared. This fearsome weapon smashed through Theran armor like porcelain. Eventually the Therans cut their losses and assumed that the recalcitrant Barsavians had been killed by wild beasts, or whatever they had to tell each other to assuage their pride.
The Dragons’ Kiss has only been seen a few times since the Scourge. The Black Cave Trolls have been unable to find the Cabamere Liferock. They believe the access tunnel might have collapsed. An expedition was sent to find more expert miners and elementalists. The Dragon’s Kiss was lost when they fell prey to a wyvern attack, troll fighters, miners and elementalists alike.
*Note: this is meant to use the House Rule that 2-handed weapons have +3 damage instead of +2 damage per extra success on attack rolls.
