Patient Maneuver + Defensive Stance

A question regarding whether Patient Maneuver and Defensive Stance are combinable.
Patient Maneuver, Companion p. 98 wrote:This knack is announced prior to determining Initiative and uses the adept’s Standard Action for the round. After announcing the knack, the adept makes a Patient Maneuver test and replaces their Physical Defense with the result until the end of the round.
Combat Options, Player's Guide p. 382 wrote:If a player wants to use a combat option he must declare it before he makes his Initiative test.
Defensive Stance, Player's Guide p. 384 wrote:The character adds +3 to his Physical and Mystic Defense for all attacks directed against him that round [...]
Both are announced at the same time, before Initiative is determined. Patient Maneuver replaces your Physical Defense, Defensive Stance adds to it - so the timing of which one is executed first is the issue. Opinions?

And what about other Talents or effects that modify Physical Defense later during the round after Patient Maneuver is used?

Since noone is answering, perhaps the question is too specific. Let's make it more general then: Are there any rules or precedence regarding timing of effects triggering at the same time? Player chooses? Or always worst option?

In my opinion:

- Defensive Stance is a Combat Option and therefore last for the entire round, beginning 'before' the round proper.
- The knack, although being rolled immediately, (outside the 'running order for actions) still happens DURING the round.

Thus, the Penalties/Bonuses related to Defensive Stance would apply to any and all action made during the round, including actions made at the very beginning of said round.
