Illusion help

Hello all.

I don't know much about illusion magic so I'm asking you all, wise-ones of the forums:

Are any of you aware of a spell or common magic item that could help change one's appearance for days at a time?

Basically, we have a blood elf in our group that need to pass as someone else for (at least) a week. It could be a 'normal' elf or even a human but the thorns need to disappear. Ideally, something that would also change the face's features and maybe even the skin color.

I'm not the GM so I cannot pull a homemade thread item to do this. Can anyone help me with some suggestions here?

Thank you.

The most obvious options are:

* Disguise Self talent (available Illusionist C4, Journeyman Option for Scout, Thief and Troubadour). Drawbacks: Only usable on yourself, talents generally are only available to members of a given Discipline unless part of the powers of a thread item. Benefits: No strain cost, duration measured in hours.
* Best Face spell (C1 Illusionist). Drawbacks: Duration measured in minutes. Only affects head/shoulders (so other body parts would need to be masked somehow). Benefits: It's a spell, so can be used on other people.

Neither of these are ideal. There aren't any common magic items that allow these (or similar) effects -- they would most likely have to be thread items.

Greetings,

While you cannot use a homemade thread item, there is an existing thread item that does this very thing, Dagger of the Thorned Vine (Travar: The Merchant City, p. 293). Along with Best Face and Disguise Self (described above by Josh), those are pretty much your options available.

Hopefully this is useful,

Best regards,

Morgan

I knew I had seen that item go across my desk at some point, but (for, perhaps, obvious reasons) thought it was in Elven Nations.

When I couldn't find it in there, I thought it had gotten cut. Thanks!
