To Forge an Impression
Player: Bloodbeat II of Syrtis (Anoush)
Request: Bloodbeat’s been having her armor forged by the renowned Throal Weaponsmith, Magda Bolg. That’s all fine and well, except that Bloodbeat is so fascinated by the forging process that she hangs around watching Magda work. And asking questions, lots of pesky questions about how and why Magda’s doing something, and commenting about how the forging looks in astral space. Magda’s alternately annoyed and impressed with her.
Now Bloodbeat has asked Magda to take her on as an apprentice, to teach her the Weaponsmith discipline. Bloodbeat feels that she has a real calling, and that Nethermancy and Weaponsmithing together will enhance each other, not detract. Finally, she convinces Magda to consider the training.
After a few days, Magda says that she will train Bloodbeat if she demonstrates her sincerity in following the Weaponsmith discipline. To wit, Magda pulls out a simple, but old map leading to a place labeled Hearth-Fire. Magda explains that this was the forge of a long-dead Weaponsmith, an ork Named Dresh Kazzen. When she bought this forge in Throal, she found letters from Dresh hidden in the floorboards upstairs. He and the previous Weaponsmith here in Throal had corresponded extensively and collaborated on the design of a legendary sword, Named Roaring Lightning. She gives Bloodbeat a copy of the map, along with the task of going to Hearth-Fire and retrieving the sword or any additional information about it that she can find.
So, Bloodbeat collects some trusted companions and goes off to fulfill the quest.
