AAR: [3M] In the Bones of a Giant (2020-5-29) (21:00 GMT)

Icarus Wolf-Swift with whom I have adventured in the past, is interested in investigating the rumor of a crashed airship north of Thoral. He is a sailor without a ship, and there are many in Toral like him. Anything new could help them in getting a new ship, and Thoral will eventually need a navy.
The information comes from Icarus’ sister. She believes that there is a downed airship from before the scourge, and that there are people living in it. Which makes some sense as some of the old airships were literally cities in the sky. We shall see what we find.
We chose to head northwest along the edge of the mountains, and then go east along the river. None of us felt comfortable just going in a straight line through the mountains. On the first day out, far too near to Thoral for my liking, we ran into bandits. We dispatched them fairly quickly and continued on. The journey continued uneventfully all the way to the rumored village.
There was a small settlement I did not see all of it, but it must have been large enough to support a village leader and her servant. They were unconcerned about strangers coming in and the area was surprisingly clean when viewed astrally. From what I saw it could be an excellent place to settle down.
There was a ship and it was incorporated into the settlement, I am unsure what they would have that is still of use after all this time, but that is an Air Sailor matter.
Cynthia the head of Fernswerth (the name of the settlement) went beyond being willing to trade in airship parts. She wanted an escort to Thoral, where she would make her own overtures to the Airship Club for knowledge and parts, talk to Thoral about trade, and I hope make her own stop at the Library to add her story. Before she left she asked that we take care of a local bandit problem. I don’t know if she wanted us to prove our abilities, or if she just did not want to be gone with that problem unsolved. The current farmer with a bandit problem was named Ormid a friendly troll who was glad for the help. He gave us a description of the bandits and their standard approach. We set up so we could hit their archers from ambush, and then finish the ones who did the raiding itself. Our ambush went very well, and Ormid was very happy and making plans for new crops as we left him.
Cynthia journeyed back to Thoral with us, and set about making connections with the city, and the Air Sailing club. If all goes well, Thoral will once again have a fledgling navy. We do need to get some ships, because the future is still an unknown. I did try to convince her to stop by the LIbrary and leave her story there too.
