The toolkit you're talking about in the blog sounds really cool. How about new beasties, or adding a masks like Earthdawn is doing? And what about mythical beasts? Will we be seeing stuff like redcaps and wendigos? One of my favorite things about 1879 is how exhaustive the research is; I'd love to see the stuff you dig up.

There will be a critter creation mechanic. We're digging into British Isles mythology and coming up with some really bizarre stuff. The plan is to do a paranormal animals book, Cryptozoological Specimens of the British Isles, with Mentions of Curious Creatures of Myth and Legend Found to be True and Real. There's a mention of one of them in the London Sourcebook.
One day he’s off to Manchester to see to a griffin that crashed into a church’s clock tower, the next he’s down to Cornwall to pull a fire-breathing turtle from a farmer’s pond. (It takes two oxen that have not been castrated or bred.)
Some of the stuff we've found in late 19th century cryptozoology has been all sorts of fun. When we do the Union DB, we'll explain the wapaloosie, which is a ferret like creature with big round ears like a mouse that lives off of tree fungus. Wapaloosie mittens give you cold resistance and bonuses to your climbing test, but you have to keep them in a box with a latch when you're not wearing them or they'll crawl away.
