We're borrowing from Shadowrun there. Spirits are not quite of the physical world, and so are affected by Willpower instead of Strength. You'll see some Shadowrun influence here and also in the Engines mechanics and a few other places. We're trying to strike a balance between a CoreStep game and a world that's very different from Earthdawn's. Nobody's even mentioned the enormous liberties we took with the Professions, turning a Talent-based Discipline system into a Skill-based career path, or the Medium, where Skill slots are replaced with Spells to represent psychic abilities. We'll be doing that trick with the Mystic Warrior in the Players Companion, which is essentially the Physical Adept.
