I know that the system is rather abstract, but having this on hand for Flavor as well as potential color for a game may be of use

Indeed it will, especially after the 1879 Players Companion introduces the mechanic for fully automatic weaponry.

And I came across a reference to the 'Punt Gun' and absurdly large shot gun that my be a interesting 'crew served' weapon for troll sized folk in the British Military. As most of this stuff is custom made anyway, something like this might show up in the Gruv to deal with rather sizable threats

The Punt Gun will be included in the Players Companion, when we do a section on Troll-specific weaponry. We'll also be introducing fully automatic weaponry with the PC, and bringing in Maxims and the like. Better buy up some Durability for your spellcasters - Shield and its KAVs will be needed even more than ever.

Sorry for the bit of thread-o-mancy, but I came across this while researching and this looks like the main line rifle for the British Empire during the 1879 era

Yes! There are several references to it in the fiction!

Specifically the Martini-Henry MkII, standard issue rifle and carbine of the British Army in the game era. We will at some point introduce the MkIII and MkIV, along with khaki uniforms, but that's down the road a bit.
