Re: Shield and Forge Armor, why not?
It's important to remember that damage gaps between spellcasters and primary fighters are intentional, as not having that gap is unfair to the fighters. Consider the following: A Warrior is only ever really good at combat. He is excels at individual fights, group fights, taking damage, giving damage...

Re: Shield and Forge Armor, why not?
Experienced GMs usually house rule things from past experiences of seeing things that seem to break game balance. Our GM whos also very experienced has made forged armour and weapons very difficult to get hold of... which is fine, but saying that we dont have a weaponsmith in the group....so i can ...

Re: Adding a Player when party is in a hard to access location - Ideas?
Sole survivor of last party is what i would suggest, it's easy to justify why he's down there, and immediately gives everyone a reason to stick together. Also if you're going to draw up a character for the new player, you may want to consider a Dwarf Warrior. The reason why Dwarf is because they're ...

Re: How much does it cost to build a kaer?
The problem is that there is no Adept licensing, any Adept can teach another without limits or restrictions, which makes it a pure free market. You can't justify cartel pricing when there is no cartel. As for Forging, i agree it does seem rather low. Eyeballing it, i'd say that if you make Forging t...

Re: How much does it cost to build a kaer?
There's a third way to determine how much an Adept's labour is worth! Use the training costs chart on Pg. 454 of the ED4 PG, which gives you how much it costs to hire an adept for 40 hours of intensive but low risk labour. It's not a linear scale, but for example a Circle 5 Adept is worth 20 silver/...

Re: Heat Food
We treat all healing rolls as being fundamentally the same unless it explicitly says otherwise. Water Spear says it does not benefit from healing aids so it doesn't, Fireblood does not say so, so it does.

Re: Extra optional talents
Pathfinder is a deeply flawed system that is very easy to break if you know what you're doing. If not reined in a ruthless optimizer will exploit those flaws and absolutely wreck party and encounter balance. So yeah i can see how you'd all be cautious after that experience. The thing to keep in mind...

Re: Heat Food
Undying, you have it backwards. Stormbreaker the Swordsmaster does not go all in on her Talents because she has Fireblood, she obtained Fireblood because she goes all in on her Talents. She always fights with all her might, it does not matter if her opponent is strong or weak, it is simply not in he...

Re: Extra optional talents
i do like that in theory Lys....but its a massive game change if i read u right...it weakens skills, and you can pickup cool talents left right and centre...many of which are awesome........plus can spend karma on them....its a big change. It's not really that big of a change. We actually only insti...

Re: Heat Food
The specific rule is on page 381 of the ED4 Player's Guide: "Upon waking from a full night’s rest, an injured character (with 1 or more Current Damage) must make a Recovery test." Sounds pretty clear to me. Also with respect to Fireblood, in my game our Warrior and my human Swordmaster mostly use it...
