Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk
One more post, because I want to expand and refine one point. i would also make the argument on the basis that it's pretty lame if the only way for a cavalryman to ever get a griffin is to buy one, with no real chance of taming it themselves, when they can tame basically every other suitable mount i...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk
I expect this will probably be the last post I will bother doing in this thread, since I think we have reached the point of just reiterating already stated positions, and real points are being ignored in favor of erecting straw men to knock down. But I will try to sum it up my points one last time. ...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk
I think you are starting to reach pretty far here. Yes, I imagine griffin riding might be like bull riding. To the best of my knowledge (I am no expert) nobody trains bulls as riding mounts. But people can stay on one for a number of seconds and it is a test of skill and badge of honor that people w...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk
I think our difference is philosophical. You are focusing on what the Talents can do. I am focusing on what the Creatures will and will not put up with. I fully agree that the magical Talent of Animal Training could teach an adult griffin how to serve as a mount, if, but only if the griffin will put...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk
Yes, I have always played it that trained animals (mounts, guard animals, etc) that are trained young retain their standard training for life and don't need to be sent back for retraining every few months. that said, i'd still be disinclined to restrict use as a mount from an adept. they don't obey ...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk
Yes, Watership Down is the reason I stated so confidently that Rabbits don't know the number 7. Agreed that we don't have the rules for non-magical mount training, but my inclination is that the "must start young" prerequisite applies to Adepts as well as Skill based trainers. If you look at the des...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk
I always hate it when players try to bring logic and reasonableness into game rules. It's a game, a simulation. Everything is already simplified to an absurd degree and logic just mucks stuff up further. Each Talent does what it says it does, and no more. However if you have already agreed to debate...

Re: Cracking Bank Hall - Character Journals [Spoilers]
After the bizarre attack by the masked highwaymen, we decided Mrs Black, the coachwoman, would drop us off at Mrs Clarke's cottage and then proceed to the constabulary post to report the attack. Mrs Esme Clarke's grand niece lived with her in a good sized two story cottage with a beautiful and lovin...

Re: Nightingale Sisters, Faith, and Lodges.
Thanks for taking the time for these long answers. It really clears some stuff up in my mind. So if I may take the liberty of summing up, the passages that most cleared up my confusion were... a Secret Society may contain a Lodge, and may contain more than one, such as the Galvanic Order, that has a...

Re: Weird Scientists
So can you make a harpoon with a ratcheting winch using clockwork, then use craft device on it to add Bind to make it stick to a rampaging Dino to reel it in? Yes, and that's the correct sequence as well. Build the mundane device using Clockwork, although you could also use Mechanic for something t...
