Re: Key Knowledges
Doug, that's a great idea. There are a lot of things here with subtly different names and the terminology is confusing. Thanks. I've been playing this game since ED1. I know what this stuff is, and I still get confused reading the rules on it. I'm reminded of the Order of the Stick comic where they...

Re: Spellcasting at +1 target and how it relates to steel thought, dispel magic and differs from AoE spells
I'm curious to learn about the way Dispel Magic works against AoE spells as well. For example: Ethereal Darkness. Does Dispel have to target the touched target at the center point, or any part of the darkness? Also, if Dispelling a person with multiple spells active, do you target only one, or do yo...

Re: beastmaster fighting hordes
Fortunately, my PC playing a Beastmaster is my wife. So I asked her to limit it to 1-2 creatures that are combat active. She can have others that have other uses (scouting, tracking, etc.).

Re: Monster Challenge
Well, Ogre Twins are a Fifth Circle Challenge, so that may have contributed to your problem. What is the party makeup? Is the Warrior the only Heavy? How is their Wood Skin/Avoid Blow? When I was planning for it, I forgot to include BOTH Twins in my calculations. Ironically, they didn't contribute ...

Re: Monster Challenge
Which PCs dropped and why? Are they dead-dead or only mostly dead? Was there a point where the Ogres could have made a tactically unsound decision that could have lessened their effectiveness? Did they have a weakness the PCs failed to notice or exploit? Warrior and Wizard. Not far beyond Death Rat...

Re: Monster Challenge
Yeah, I'm never quite sure how much is too much for the starting of a thread. So I err on the side of brevity. :) I'm mainly basing my understanding on this: It represents what Circle adept would find the creature a fair challenge in a one-on one fight. This is not a precise measurement, as differen...

Monster Challenge
I'm starting to run without a module to guide me. I'm having some trouble finding the sweet spot to challenge my group. According to the Creature chapter, a Challenge Circle 4 should be a fair 1:1 fight with a Circle 4 PC (with some give and take for the PC in question). There's also a mention about...

Re: Social mechanics clarification
That is very true! I think Social Defense is the rarest Discipline bonus tho. Players and game masters should decide what counts as a social "attack", for example, Seduction totally counts, but some groups might not consider Etiquette an attack as it does not target any characters' Social Defenses....
