Re: Airship Altitude

The FAA assume you are in a closed (or even better; pressurized) hull with at least basic heating and sitting on your butt while holding a stick, which is quite different than rowing with the wind in your face so their numbers might not completely 'fit' with Air Sailing but its a good basis. But bes...

Re: Airship Altitude

Good question. I don't remember anything in the lore about the maximum height of an airship but I think I remember reading something where a Sky Raider was boasting that they could overfly any and all mountains in Barsaive. Based on that, we could say that a drakkar can fly at least up to 5600m/1850...

For all intents and purposes, learning a knack as a skill works just like learning a normal skill and is otherwise treated as a skill.

Knacks as skills

Finally decided to sit down and figure out how knacks works in 4ED and I'm a bit confused how the (few) Knacks that can be taken as Skill actually works. First, is the following correct? 1a- If (only if) a Knack says 'Skill Use: Yes' can the Knack be learned as a Skill. 2a- The Requirements (minimum...

Re: Question -> Construct: Shadow - Power: Possession

What I think they meant by 'not controlling their mind' is that the Horror cannot access the host's memories. Thus: - The Shadow can still make the body talk (since its a physical action) and the voice will sound normal. - The Shadow do not know the mannerisms of the host; thus someone familiar with...

Re: Languages

isn't throalic the main trade language of barsaive? and isn't it not dwarven? (or rather, the language is *a* dwarven language, but not *the* dwarven language). The Player's Guide do state that: ..the Throalic dialect of the Dwarf tongue has become the common language . My understanding from this i...

Re: 4th ed spells now take LP to learn?

That seems sort of harsh. Does anyone know when this has been changed? I just thinking through if I want to make changes to that. This is new from 4th edition. I'm guessing it was used to balances up the 'upgrades' that mages got compared to previous editions: Two spell matrices that levels up for ...

Re: Housing in Travar

....why do they have that many children with them? They have been rescued from a kear infested by giant spiders. The players had more then one options to find them good shelter with people to take good care of them. But instead, they insisted on adopting all of them with the help of the mother and ...

Re: Second Weapon and Throwing Knife

As for Second WEAPON, it is true that the way its written in the 1st Edition Core Book does not seem to prohibit the use with Throwing Weapons. But personally, I would rule against it. Especially since I seem to remember a Talent Knack that did something similar (will have to dig around). However, S...
