Re: Willforce vs Effect Step

That is correct. The Illusionist Fifth Circle Karma ability is designed to help with this as it modifies the Effect Step. Willforce is the most versatile replacement talent and available very early. It just can't do everything and those effects tend to be powerful enough that Willforce skews them in...

Re: Willforce vs Effect Step

That isn't correct. The substitution is only made when making a test and the Effect Step doesn't change based on the Effect test result. When using Willforce to modify the Effect Step, it immediately reverts back to the original Effect Step. If the Effect test result is referenced as a Difficulty, t...

Re: Alchemy and the players . . .

Weaponsmith's don't need Alchemy to craft living armor; Companion, p. 137, "If the enchanter is not a Weaponsmith, they use the lower of their Alchemy or Craft Armor steps for the crafting tests."

Re: looking for an adventure? (my players stay out of this post)

Greetings, That sounds like an adaptation of Misguided Ambitions , the 3E intro adventure. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/64600/Misguided-Ambitions--An-Introduction-to-Earthdawn-Third-Edition Good news, even if it's not, the above is still free. Hopefully that's helpful. Best regards, Morgan

Re: Old ed spells not included?

Greetings, Gills is in Mystic Paths as a Shaman spell and Crushing Hand of Earth is in the Player's Guide . Grasping Hand of Earth was cut because there's no "lockdown" type effects available at only one thread and there wasn't much point in have both spells; one is an just an improved version of th...

Re: Old ed spells not included?

Greetings, The assessment on what it takes for a spell to "earn a spot" is spot on. If the spell isn't worth the Legend Point cost, then it's not worth the space something else could be using. This puts some neat, but not terribly useful effects in a weird place, but I am trying to redevelop as many...

Re: Old ed spells not included?

Greetings, There are numerous reasons why many spells weren't included, but two major reasons are space and time. Each spell included requires space, which means something else isn't being included to make room for them. The first things cut to make room would be the new spells and there was a speci...

Re: Lightbearers as a Path

Greetings,

Quick response (I'll try to revisit once back from GenCon): there's an unfortunate dropped "f" in the Astral Shift talent.

Cheers,

Re: Blood Elf Children

Greetings, While ostensibly in an Earthdawn novel, that's a non-canon take on the Ritual of Thorns (and Aithne probably knows better ), unless it is a joke of sorts that doesn't come across. A big metaphysical problem is being a blood elf doesn't simply mean thorns grow from their skin, like an etha...

Re: Blood Elf Children

Greetings, They are not born with thorns. All children in Blood Wood undergo the Ritual of Thorns and about 10% don't survive. Blood elves are increasingly questioning if the ritual is still necessary—no parent wants to see their child go through that agony, nor the chance they don't survive. Howeve...
