They have their own special "things" going on and they're different. It's important every character has access to them and reasons to go down that road if they want to — not just spellcasters.

Re: Under the Stars Postmortem

Fireside Chat postmortem This was an exercise in focus at the beginning, because my son had to go see a doctor for strep, and I got back home right when the game started. We delayed the start time by half-an-hour, and I was, as I told my players, discombobulated. We got things on track fairly quickl...

Re: Under the Stars Postmortem

Caravan Ambushed postmortem This will be short, both because I'm writing this three weeks later and because this session was a three hour battle. Really, the main takeaway was that I had too many people to manage with 10 bandits, 3 guards, and 4 civilians. Civvies went on the same initiative and mos...

Re: Familiars 4th edition

Also, I wanted to keep the power level at Journeyman and under. Extending the range or using the the familiar as the point of origin seems very interesting, but I feel those kind of power belong to the Warden tier. It's possible that one can treat a familiar as a special thread item. This would the...

Re: Under the Stars

Our heroes, with prisoners in tow, continue their trek to Axalalail, though the night proves more exciting than the day. Fireside Chat Something I've been forgetting to do is link journal entries. While there isn't yet one for this session, I'll be going back and adding them in to previous ones. Go ...

Re: Familiars 4th edition

What niche is a familiar supposed to fill? This implementation just seems like a mix between a matrix object and a poor-man's animal companion. Is there something more that can be added? Should there be different kinds, one for magicians and one for others? Perhaps extending the range of spells, all...

Re: Under the Stars

Our heroes have attached themselves to a caravan running a skeleton crew of guards when bandits decide to steal all they have. Who will prevail?

Also possible that Switch and True Switch should be allowed this, but the book doesn't say so.
These aren't instant damage spells, so nevermind, they wouldn't need to really be in the same matrix as they don't have the disbelieve problem.

Re: spell matrices

Even so the illuionist only has one combination fitting this description, the (True) Ephemeral Bolt and bolt. Guess the elementalist is the one benefitting the most of this new rule. Illusory and True Missiles, too. Also possible that Switch and True Switch should be allowed this, but the book does...
