Re: Collective Issues with the Earthdawn 4e Game System/Engine
A person's current clothing (and other "worn" objects) are incorporated into their Pattern on the astral. The talent targets the Pattern (Mystic Defense), and shows the adept the best way to deliver damage to the target. Yes, even if it's Named Threaded Armor. *Shrug* That's how the mechanic works,...

Re: Collective Issues with the Earthdawn 4e Game System/Engine
Really, all of this is moot. The questions don't matter anymore as we have our official answers: presence of armor has no impact on use of this Talent, so by extension, visibility of armor has no impact. I will note, though, that "this is magical" is not really a justification to suggest a constrain...

Re: T'skrang Nipples
And finally, windlings. I would like to posit that all windlings are just topless all the time. Shirts would be such a hassle. But then, if I were a t'skrang I'd probably Donald Duck it all day, what with the tail and all. I think somebody asked a while ago about how to handle backpacks with Windli...

Re: Wind Catcher is a Standard Action?
If later publications invalidate your character build, it's entirely reasonable that you ask your GM for a chance to rebuild according to new material. Definitely agree. The weird thing here is that it wouldn't really invalidate it: Gliding Stride would still do what it did before. It's just that t...

Re: When are you considered dead?
Tel's got it. When you hit your Death Rating, you're dead; there's no half/part/semi dead. However, there are certain magics that can be use on the dead as long as they are administered within a certain amount of time. Trying to categorize that time window as "semi-dead" just invites more questions....

Re: Wind Catcher is a Standard Action?
As I said, I'm not attempting to argue that the Wind Catcher knack SHOULD NOT require a test. You just asked why I thought it wouldn't require one, I explained why I thought it might not require one. No big issue here. :) As written, the only advantages Gliding Stride has over Wind Catcher when miti...

Re: Collective Issues with the Earthdawn 4e Game System/Engine
Though it probably should have been named Spot Weak Point or something like that, it's not a big deal. Yeah, I think this is ultimately the core. Is it confusing that a Talent named "Spot Armor Flaw" has nothing to do what Joe 6-pack gamer likely knows about "armor" (mass media generally tells us i...

Re: Collective Issues with the Earthdawn 4e Game System/Engine
I feel like your veering into unproductive non-discussion here, so probably best to call it an end. "Spot Armor Flaw" has nothing to do with spotting nor with armor, it exists to gives a flat Damage bonus regardless of situation. That is confusing to me, it's confusing to others as has been made evi...

Re: Collective Issues with the Earthdawn 4e Game System/Engine
Did a quick search on the old forum. The relevant thread gets really dark really fast, so I'm not going to link to it for the sake of everyone's sanity. :) Here's the relevant text from Panda: Here is how the talent is intended to work: It grants a bonus to damage regardless of if the target is wear...
