Re: Alchemy and the players . . .

Re: Poison. Yes, it kind of depends upon the table, but it also probably varies by society within the game and circumstances of the act. Windlings are generally small and week, and poison use seems to be more generally accepted. But Trolls are big and strong, and I think that most highland trolls wo...

Re: Willforce vs Effect Step

You seem confused as to how to use the Effect Test. The step of the Effect Test needs to be rolled, and the result of the roll is used as the effect. Also you might possibly be confused as to what is the Effect Test, and what is the test to Resist the Effect. Specifically, the Effect test is rolled,...

Big Trouble in Little Soho [Spoilers]

It was a rainy evening, and a good portion of the children had congregated within the village school, not for lessons, but hoping that Old Cusa would be inclined to tell a story of his youth, he did not disappoint.  Our next real adventure was about a month later. Carnavon and I had gotten fairly we...

Re: 1879: The Expendables

The journal of Lord Bentley Bootle, Day 24 out of Caracas In the 4 days since we killed the lizards we have traveled rapidly. Without discussing it, we have decided to live off of our carried rations and limit our hunting and foraging to firewood, which we always forage for in groups. Despite (or p...

Re: Alchemy and the players . . .

I personally agree with you about Alchemy not being a worthwhile pursuit for PCs. The PCs are supposed to be adventurers, not trades-persons. And you are correct that the LP and SP costs associated with a trade like Alchemy only make financial sense if you spend 8 hours per day every day doing it. A...

Re: Awareness and finding traps

So am I to take it that if you don't have the disarm trap talent, you can't spot traps? That is the RaW. Of course a GM is permitted to improvise. If a person without Disarm Traps made an awareness or perception test that had 2 or 3 successes against the traps detection difficulty, I might have the...

Re: Weaponsmith in the group . . . I have questions

I think all weaponsmiths are trained to install blood pebble as well.
Most don't have the pattern to make it, but any can remove it, forge it, and/or reinstall it.
And I think all of them can reactivate crystal armors and shields for a year without any special knowledge or knack.

Re: Riposte

I have heard that some groups had huge headaches with this in previous editions, with Riposte's going back and forth a ridiculous amount of times. I believe the official solution in previous editions was that you could not riposte a reposte, but this was only to get around this weird situation where...

Re: How much should you charge for item history talent?

Also Forge Weapon takes a week of 8 hour days, while Item history takes a week of 1 hour days. So about 1/8 of Forge Weapon could be about the base, with it going up or down from there depending upon circumstance. On the other hand, there could be a certain amount of price fixing among people in a t...

Re: Astral Sight: What does it see?

Tough questions, and there is a lot of GM interpretation to be done. The rules are not very clear, and in some cases seem to be contradictory. For example the section you quoted says that "the talents, spells, and abilities characters use provide a limited type of astral perception called astral sen...
