Re: Lightbearers as a Path

Armor of Light needs a duration. Astral Shift seems superior to Netherwalk in that it allows others to be shifted, but should probably have some of the same "take damage as long as in astral space" problems as well, otherwise it would be too superior. Shimmer is messed up, the first paragraph and th...

Supply and Demand [Spoilers]

"You are all doing excellent work!" Old Cusa praised the job being done by the group of young men and boys. "This project will provide fresh clean water to your entire village! Never underestimate the value of clean water. It was bad water that sickened the crew of that whaling ship all those years ...

Re: Astral Perception

I'm not sure about the 'no drawbacks' part for Astral Savant. The description states that : The target of this spell becomes partially subsumed in astral space and perceives it without any filtration offered by the Astral Sight talent and, furthermore, states that the person using this suffers dama...

Re: Astral Perception

As I understand it, This is kind of a holdover from from the old Earthdawn 1st edition's relationship with Shadowrun. In Shadowrun, Magicians can "Astrally Project", wherein their meat body goes comatose but their spirit can move around on the Astral Plane. A person can be moving and fighting on the...

1879: The Expendables

Journal Entry, day 13 out of Caracas We have been making good time down the tributary, and our own navigation, plus the boatman and guide all agree that we should reach the Orinoco within hours tomorrow. It will then be just a day or two of further travel to reach the village from which we will star...

Re: Blood Elf Children

I find the answer that they are all born without thorns surprising. I understood that the Ritual of Thorns changed many of the creatures of the Blood Wood spontaneously, Such as for example the Ethandrille breed was more or less accidentally and permanently changed and they now breed true with thorn...

Re: Shantaya’s Sextan

I could not find a price for in-game Sextants, but did find a description and picture (attached) in the Barsaive Boxed set. The BBS also has a map marked up to be used with the Sextant. The "Rod" is just a ruler, marked for "days walking and days riding". The "Astrolabe" is just a weird protractor. ...

Re: heal spell

1) It does not say it does cost anybody a recovery test. 2) The spellcasting chapter (page 364) says that the normal order of events is to Determine Effects, and then to Take Strain, so assuming the spell behaved as normal, the strain would happen after the healing effect. 3) It does not say that it...

Re: Fourth Edition Errata, Clarifications, and FAQs

A while ago there was a discussion thread that concluded that damage replacement tests were not subject to the "each talent can only be used once per round" rule. There was discussion that maybe that rule should be errata-ed to only apply to simple talents and not free talents. Discussion is in this...

Re: Spell Questions

I seem to recall reading that magical tomes helped Weird Scientists get inspiration for their scientific devices, and I seem to recall hearing that it was easier to make a KaV if you could study a grimoure that had a variant than to develop a new KaV from scratch. So I thought that there was some to...
