Re: Experiences with High Circle groups?

You're saying that survivability scales faster than damage? I would have guessed the opposite... Not sure whether you refer to me, but I meant that the complexity of a fight increases if the enemy is to be interesting for a circle 11 group. The damage output scales faster than the death threshold, ...

Re: Experiences with High Circle groups?

Avoiding the tiresome combat. Maybe a few combat rounds are enough to bring everyone past a beast that guards an entrance where it does not fit it. Maybe the characters need to free a hostage, so they do not want to get caught up in lengthy combat. Maybe there is a tactical level of combat higher th...

Re: Experiences with High Circle groups?

The highest circle my old group has reached was actually 11. Despite the high circle, it was still difficult for them to uncover a murderer. And just because you can kill potentially every namegiver around you, it brings extra responsibility. Go find the Earthdawn, go to the Netherworlds, steal a so...

Re: Alternate Discipline Talents

We do it like this with one little extra rule: A talent that is available by original rules from a certain circle onwards, can only be taken once this circle in this discipline is reached. The circle 8 discipline talent can hence not be taken upon circle 5. That's a good idea, but I don't think tha...

Re: High resolution Barsaive map image

The hint with the scale is an interesting one!

The german distributor even gives you a complete photoshop file so one can modify the labels.

I think about adding an XY axis, so I can keep the labeled original and tell the players at which coordinates they can find places.

Re: More than one Talent Option each circle?

I received the question whether I would allow the player to trade in a fixed discipline talent for an option. In my opinion it is almost a disadvantage if a talent is not in you option pool but in your fixed list at a fixed circle. I agree that it is good to limit the availability somewhat to a cert...

Re: Called Shot to ignore armor?

I would suggest to use a called shot for functional purposes.

Cutting the rope they use to hang your friend for example.

Re: Question about ED2 Talents wood skin and others

Not broken. Let's not forget that there is a 'middle ground' between 'alive' and 'dead' and that's the unconscious rating. Wood Skin also increase the unconscious rating thus you would remain conscious 'longer' with the Wood Skin talent. Yes, if the total goes over the (real) death rating then this...

Re: Question about ED2 Talents wood skin and others

Regarding Wood Skin; Your interpretation of the damage remaining and a character potentially dying when wood skin expires is a very tough one. It does however close a bit the gap felt regarding 'fighting value' between a Sky raider and a Warrior. What worries me about it, are the elven and windling ...
