Re: Nice Thread Scythan Axe, or Lore from Scytha

The only other references I know of Scytha is in the Explorer’s Guide to Barsaive (the ‘blue book’ of the 1st edition Barsaive Campaign Set) around page 96-97 but its not much.

Re: Combat Fury

3rd edition Combat Fury is written the same way, however Classic edition says: 'While under the effect of this spell, the character can only make close combat attacks; no ranged or spell combat attacks are allowed .' So, my guess is that it just mean that the only kind of ATTACK that you can do whil...

Re: Key knowledge for "common" thread items

It depends, of course, what you mean by a 'common' thread item. Your example of 'Excalibur' would definitely NOT be a 'common' thread item. 'Excalibur' would be widely known and its so would be its history thus, since the first key knowledge is always to find the name, that should not be much of a p...

The knacks do exactly what they say: You can spend Karma on a talent learned through Versatility once per round. If you have all three, you can only use one at a time.
Then I fail to understand why there is 3 knacks that does the exact same thing while not being able to 'stack'.

Re: ED4 Mystic Path Journeyman Knack

My understanding is that from the 'The adept can spend a Karma point on a talent learned through Versatility' it means that each of those knacks allows you to chose ONE talent (learned through Versatility) where you can use Karma on. So, for example, an Adept that has Rank 10 in Versatility could us...

Re: 4th edition obsidian and blood magic

That would mean that group patterns for large groups are just another word for suicide. I'd see that as a bit like computer networking: - Having a computer completely disconnected from any network is completely safe.... and not that useful. - Being connected to the internet through a small lan make...

Re: 4th edition obsidian and blood magic

There is little 'racial lore' in 4th edition yet beside the tidbits race description in the Players Guide. However, lore from previous edition is considered canon. Thus, the data concerning obsidimen being reluctant to use blood magic (beside living armor) found in the 1st edition Denizens of Earthd...

Re: Avoid Blow, Physical, Defense and Windlings

Indeed, Avoid Blow is like a 'second chance' at not being hit.

Perhaps he is a player used to previous edition where a failed Avoid Blow resulted in being knockdown?

Back then, using Avoid Blow was a hell of a gamble so that might be why he think its not worth it.

Re: Balancing Astral sight

Transparent objects remains transparent but opaque objects are not and are (unless magical) bland and textures-less. Which is why you could turn the pages of a book in Astral but not read the text. Although, now that I think about it, writing a book with confidential information, using an invisible ...

Re: Balancing Astral sight

Where you quoted me I missed to mark the quote from you. Sorry for the confusion. I disagree with you being able to see the Troll through glass. Glass as a dead substance appears the same colorless goo as concrete.. From the Players Guide, page 206: 'An adept may look through the astral imprint of ...
