Re: Wind Catcher is a Standard Action?
Knack sounds perfect to me. The objective being to wind catcher on to another ship and strike the same round.

Faster Casters?
My wife is playing with our group as a Dwarf Wizard. She likes the social aspects of playing. But is frustrated by the fact that she often goes last due to low initiative and when she does hit, rarely seems to do significant damage. The rebuffs help of course. Any suggestions as to how to speed her ...

Re: Mounts with Stealthy Stride
Everyone seems to be forgetting that illusion magic is happening. That includes sound suppression including deepening shadow and using illusion to remain unobserved. In my opinion even stepping on creaky floor boards, stepping on twigs can be suppressed by high enough talent rank. I see no reason no...

Re: Compute Hit Points
Oh that's brilliant Mataxes. I was having a hard time wrapping my head around the group thread addition.
But when I think of it as adding 1 or up to 5 "steps of durability" to the uncon and death ratings it now makes sense.
Everyone was arguing math... it's a step thing to two particular stats.

Compute Hit Points
Fairly straight forward. Or so I thought. 4th edition plz. Currently a 5th Circle Weaponsmith with a toughness of 16. Weaponsmith has base durability of 5. Book examples are straight forward until you add a group thread to durability then it seems to get a bit strange. I thought a +1 durability grou...

Re: Shield Bash and Second Attack
Interesting discussion. I never "ENVISIONED" a shield bash to be "hitting" with my sword and substituting the shield bash rank + SRT as the damage. I always saw it as hitting someone with my shield, period. If it does damage great! If it knocks them down better! The actual order of sword or shield f...

Re: Shield and Forge Armor, why not?
I want to thank everyone for their answers! The background and evolution on the different editions was just outstanding. Since I dredged up this topic I think I should say that your relies have helped. They have at least helped me understand the where and why our GM sets his "campaign" limits. I may...

Re: Shield and Forge Armor, why not?
Well I have read some interesting comments and learned a lot of game mechanics from this discussion I dredged up. I am glad I did. Lots of interesting opinions to. I can see the merits of each different point of view. I especially like the 2 daggers vrs two-handed sword argument. I have run across t...

Re: Shield and Forge Armor, why not?
Umm wow. Ok I'm a noob. Spell casters can rock. Just take longer to "mature"? My group is new to Earthdawn. Only GM isn't though he is new to 4E. We don't have a group pattern yet. Players have been focused on making circle and/or putting LP into the few thread items we have found. Not making excuse...

Re: Shield and Forge Armor, why not?
Thank you for the scenarios Undying. They helped. Just to explain my confusion a bit: Same dagger but with a +4 Forge already on it. DN 10 (6+4). Going for a +5 Forge (limit of characters forge rank). The book seemed to imply (from my point of view) That you still needed to get 5 successes or the ne...
