Re: Flying Fighting Squirrel [creature]

That'll really depend on the group. A single pair, using swooping attacks, could keep multiple adepts busy/running, if they cannot reliably go before them. Once you have a couple characters with ranged attacks, the story quickly changes. The Intention is that the FFS will use Swooping Attacks as the...

Flying Fighting Squirrel [creature]

The wilderness of Barsaive is full of wonders, some large and some small. Whether it is a landmark, a plant or an animal, scholars regularly make new discoveries or rediscover lost lore in every corner of the province. One such wonder are the Flying Fighting Squirrels of the Throalic Mountains. They...

Re: Janus [creature]

It's a nasty power but I think appropriate for what you've established.
If things explode, that's just the way of it 😅

Re: Janus [creature]

Why not both? ;) Make it a sort of negative wood skin, that reduces death rating by the test result and if it causes a wound, it also imposes the wither limb effect. Death Magic is a scary thing, nothing wrong with warning the party ahead with a few legends or tales to establish the GMs "I told you ...

Rank 10 in a Skill represents Mastery of a certain craft or area of expertise via traditional learning. Taking that into account, the training/practice periods are pretty accurate. Gaining rank 10 in a skill is not something that should be achieved easily, or in many cases at all. These things are f...

Re: Storm Children (A different approach)

They were added in the ED3 Cathay book.

Personally, I'm not a fan of them and some other races introduced in that book.

Re: Thread Items - how many is too many?

For a classic campaign, 3-4 meaningful ones plus 3-4 novice tier ones with little buffs is what I shoot for. Now that is longterm, and not what PCs should have by mid Journeyman. Anything more than that and players often just forget about their bonuses and abilities, or rounds get too long because o...

Re: Resist Pain as Skill

Learning a skill requires finding a trainer. Learning a Warden Tier Skill should never be something that can be easily achieved, the same goes for finding a trainer. Every table decides for themselves if they want to have people accessing this skill before warden tier. Personally, I wouldn't. And by...

Re: 4E Air Ship Rules

circle 9 requires 2.5k silver. That just what you pay for training from C8 to C9. 8.8k is what you pay in total for training, based on PG454. Overall though, Air Ships are rare in-system. It's just that most GMs ignore that fact in favour of the rule of cool. In over 15 years of play, our group was...
