About predator and 4ed

I found it strange that a predator like a griffin doesn't have the "hunting" skill in previous editions. How can it feed itself in the natural state? Are the listed skills only magical ones (like the felux eye ray)? Finaly, if a skill is a magical one, ain't that the definition of a talent? Meaning that creatures have talents?

Regarding hunting: A wild animal's natural 'hunting' ability isn't generally something that is rolled or played out.

"Hunting" is actually a broad ability, and is better covered by looking at a creature's ability to find prey (often with enhanced senses or the like), sneak up on or ambush prey (also covered by abilities), or kill prey (covered by its combat traits and other relevant abilities).

There isn't a "hunting" skill/talent for PCs/GMCs either, and I don't think it really needs one. Wilderness Survival covers that sort of thing if you want to abstract it out.

Creatures do not have "talents" in the same way adepts do. Some of them may have abilities/skills that mimic the effect of a talent closely enough that the rules for the talent work for the purposes of game play. Or it could be the non-magical equivalent of the talent, just like a PC could learn the 'skilled' version of a talent (e.g. Stealthy Stride, Great Leap).
