Re: Dumb Questions

The "indirect attack" part of "Displace Self" opens up the possibility of allowing a broad range of things to be avoided. Avoid Blow says The adept avoids injury by dodging or parrying blows directed against him. Clearly the "indirect" from Displace Self is an addition ...

Re: [ED4] Astral Interference

Anyways, I think a key take-away is some things require a bit of interpretation, that interpretation is going to vary, and the best thing that can be done by any group is to try to keep from over-engineering/analyzing (Rule of Fun, as Tel has said before) while trying to be consistent (sucks to buy...

Re: [ED4] Astral Interference

True, but how is he not targeted the moment he enters the area of effect? Sorry, I just that my previous rambling didn't actually answer this. The answer is because AI NEVER targets. AI affects those within the AoE. AI does not target creatures within the AoE during initial resolution. AI does not ...

Re: [ED4] Astral Interference

Your qualm specifically is against allowing Steel Thought against AOE abilities, correct? If successful, he reinforces his will, preventing the ability from affecting him. I take this to mean that the Adept prevents the effect against himself only. It doesn't say it stops the spell or other ability,...

Re: (Adanyan's Revenge) Players surrendered, what to do

Also, give the players a chance to talk the Elves out of killing them and into letting them go. Play up the interaction tests with the Elves being Neutral and a bonus to trying to make them friendly or something. The players are being open and honest, peaceful and friendly. Like Utsukushi said, that...

Re: (Adanyan's Revenge) Players surrendered, what to do

For instance, more Elves could show up here, and the three that captured them could explain what happened, and the other elves might see it as you did: A group of Adepts declined to attack a group of non-Adepts that they probably could have beaten. Elves do have a tendency to take a longer view of ...

Re: Fourth Edition Player's Guide Errata and FAQ

Lightning bolt does not have a duration. Mind dagger does not have a duration. Flame Flash does have a duration, but the text specifies that the target takes the damage twice, once the round it was cast, and once the round afterwards. So since Aura Strike seems to be a simple damaging spell that do...

Re: After the Scourge

Present day is 1517 TH, as per the 4ed GMG page 39. Throal opened its gates in 1420 TH. Thera sealed its gates in 1008 and Throal did the same in 1050.

Thera sealing their gates is marked as the official beginning of the Scourge (4ed GMG pg. 24). So, 509 years since the Scourge began.

Re: (Adanyan's Revenge) Players surrendered, what to do

I have only read actual plays of Ardanyan's Revenge, so I don't fully know all the ins and outs. However, perhaps one of the guards can be sympathetic or at least resistant to the idea of killing the players? Maybe someone disillusioned with the current leadership or someone not in on the conspiracy...
